Signs You Need a Real Lighting System
Most landscape lighting calls start with one of these situations. Two or more on the same property usually means the existing system was never designed properly or has aged out.

The property disappears at sunset.
A nice landscape that no one sees after dark is half a landscape. Lighting extends the usable hours of the space. -
Path and stair safety is a real concern.
Dark walkways, unmarked steps, and shadowy entries are how people fall. Outdoor pathway lighting is one of the highest-value upgrades on any property. -
Existing fixtures are failing.
Burned-out bulbs, fogged lenses, broken stakes, corroded sockets, or fixtures pulled out by the mower. Most older halogen systems are at end-of-life and cost less to replace than repair. -
Wires are exposed or damaged.
Buried wire that has surfaced, frayed connections, or transformer issues. Outdoor wiring should be tucked under mulch or buried, with weatherproof connections at every splice. -

We plan fixture placement, beam spread, color temperature, transformer sizing, and zone layout before we install anything. Our landscape lighting service starts with the property and how you want to use it after dark, not a fixture catalog.
Outdoor pathway lighting for walkways, garden paths, stairs, and driveways. Low-voltage LED path lights placed at the right spacing and beam angle so the path is lit, not the property line. Pathway lighting is the single highest-impact upgrade on most landscapes.
Uplighting on feature trees, downlighting from large trees for a moonlight effect, wall washing on stone facades, and grazing light across textured surfaces. The goal is depth and dimension after dark, not floodlighting the yard.

How We Work
How a Landscape Lighting Project Works
Call (503) 936-8910 or request a quote online. We ask about the property and what you want the lighting to accomplish. Then we schedule a site visit, sometimes during the day and sometimes at dusk for larger design projects.
We walk the property, identify the features worth highlighting, map out path and safety lighting, check existing power and any current system, and talk through your goals. You get a written proposal covering fixture count, wattage, zone layout, materials, and price. No verbal numbers.
Our crew installs the transformer, runs the low-voltage wiring, sets the fixtures, and tests the system. On larger projects, we come back after sunset to fine-tune aiming and beam angles so the lighting looks the way it was designed, not just functional.

We do not install plastic stake lights from big-box stores. They look acceptable for a season and then fail.

Most property owners want a number before they call. We understand that, but giving you a flat “landscape lighting costs $X per fixture” without seeing the property would be dishonest. Two yards the same size can need completely different systems. Here is how we actually price the job.

A member of our team comes to the property, evaluates the site, and talks through what you want the lighting to accomplish. The site visit and initial consultation cost you nothing. -
Written proposal before any work starts.
Whether it is a six-fixture path lighting job or a full property design, you see fixture count, wiring scope, materials, and price in writing before you commit. No verbal numbers. No surprise add-ons mid-project.
Three things drive the price on any landscape lighting service:
- Fixture count and quality. A path lighting upgrade is a different conversation than a full property design with uplighting, downlighting, pathway, and hardscape integration
- Fixture grade. Cast brass fixtures cost more than aluminum, and aluminum costs more than plastic. We will quote what holds up in Oregon weather, not what shows up cheapest on a spec sheet
- Wiring complexity and transformer sizing. Long runs, multiple zones, smart controllers, and large transformers all affect the bill of materials
What you will not pay for:
- Hidden charges for transformer or controller upgrades that should have been in the original quote
- Verbal estimates that grow once the project starts
- Pressure to add fixtures or zones the property does not actually need

How much does landscape lighting cost in Portland?
It depends on fixture count, fixture grade, and wiring complexity. Smaller path lighting jobs often run a few thousand dollars. Full property lighting designs with uplighting, downlighting, pathway, hardscape, and architectural lighting run higher. We provide a written quote after the site visit so you know exactly what you are committing to.
LED vs halogen for outdoor lighting: which is better?
LED. It is not even close anymore. LED fixtures use roughly 80 percent less power, last 10 to 20 times longer than halogen, and the color quality is now indistinguishable for landscape use. If you have an older halogen system that keeps failing, an LED upgrade usually pays back within a few years through bulb and power savings.
Will the lighting system survive Oregon's wet winters?
Yes, if it is built right. Marine-grade fixtures, sealed LED modules, weatherproof wire connectors, and a properly sized transformer in a code-compliant location are what keep a system running through wet winters. Most failing systems we replace were installed with cheap fixtures and twist-cap connections that flooded.
How long does a landscape lighting installation take?
Yes. We design, install, service, and take down professional holiday lighting for homes and businesses. Installations are scheduled in November or early December. Takedown happens after the holidays. We store your custom-fit lights for the next year if you would like, which is faster and easier than starting from scratch each season.
Are you licensed and insured for landscape lighting in Oregon?
Yes. We hold Oregon License #100592 and carry general liability and workers’ compensation insurance on every project. Low-voltage landscape lighting is covered under landscape work. Proof of insurance is available on request.
Can you repair a system that someone else installed?
Yes. About a quarter of our lighting calls are diagnosing and repairing systems installed by other contractors or previous owners. We will identify what is salvageable, what needs to be replaced, and whether an upgrade makes more sense than continued repair.
